Deep Dive into Power C

Vitamin C is a popular ingredient to include on your skincare shelf and for good reason. Power C is Dr. Marko Lens’ potent vitamin C concentrate, so let’s take a deeper look at why you might want to include it in your routine, how to use it and which products we’d recommend using alongside it.

How does Vitamin C work?

Vitamin C is one of the most powerful antioxidants, which helps to shield against free radicals and pollutants which can cause cellular damage. This can show as dark spots, dryness, premature signs of ageing and sensitivity. It also helps to prevent any further damage and protect the skin at the same time.

It’s also integral for brightening the skin and refining its texture. Plus, vitamin C helps boost the production of collagen and prevent the development of pigmentation, for younger looking, more radiant skin.

About Power C

Formulated with a 20% highly-stable vitamin C ester and enriched with a proprietary blend of fermented botanicals naturally rich in vitamin C.

We use a particular form of vitamin C. Not a pure vitamin C or ascorbic acid, but an ester of ascorbic acid. Dr. Lens decided to formulate with this as it’s a very stable molecule, and at a concentration of 20%, for the best skin results.

Dr. Lens says formulating with this ester means you don’t experience the side effects of oxidisation like you do when using ascorbic acid. As soon as you open your vitamin C containing ascorbic acid and expose it to light, you will find it changes colour and darkens due to being a vulnerable molecule.

Power C is also formulated with squalane, derived from Mediterranean olive oil, to mimic natural skin lipids. Helping to replenish moisture, prevent moisture loss and restore suppleness to the skin.

So, with the benefits of these ingredients, Power C helps to promote skin’s firmness and elasticity, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Plus evens skin tone for a visibly radiant complexion.

Who should use Power C?

Power C can be used by anyone wanting to protect the skin against the damage free radicals can cause, especially those wanting to brighten and even their skin tone. Or boost collagen for a firmer and more youthful complexion. Dr. Lens always recommends using an antioxidant in your skincare routine for healthy skin.

How to use:

Apply 2-3 pumps to face, neck and décolleté after cleansing and follow with your serum or moisturiser.

Vitamin C helps significantly when it comes to protecting against damaging free radicals from exposure to UV light when combined with a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Always apply an SPF as the last step in your morning routine.

Vitamin C can be used all year round and in both your morning and evening routine, but we especially like to use in the morning for the antioxidant benefits throughout the day.

What to pair with Power C:

Power C can fit into almost all routines, but we would recommend pairing with Tea Shot, our urban defence serum, for the ultimate antioxidant power and to maintain healthy, moisturised skin for all ages.

Tea Shot harnesses the powerful antioxidant properties of five types of tea- black tea, red tea, white tea, green tea and matcha, to protect against daily environmental pollutants.

Lumino is also a perfect pairing for Power C, especially if you’re looking to target skin brightness. Lumino helps diminish the appearance of dark spots and discolouration for a more even skin tone. Leaving skin radiant, smoother and younger-looking.
