Lactobionic acid: A polyhydroxy acid (PHA). This naturally occurring, low-irritating acid enhances exfoliation of stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the skin) without side effects. Shows strong hydrating properties: by binding atmospheric water, lactobionic acid is forming a natural gel film that gives hydration, plumpness and smoothness to the skin. Demonstrates excellent antioxidant properties and helps prevent skin damage caused by oxidative stress. Due to chelating capacity effectively removes excess dangerous metal molecules.
Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA): AHAs accelerate skin renewal by gentle exfoliation of the stratum corneum. PHA+ pads contain lactic acid (produced by fermentation of natural carbohydrates) and citric acid (derived from citrus fruits).
Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA): Salicylic acid gently exfoliates the skin and promotes skin renewal. Effectively clears the pores of debris, preventing them from clogging up. Due to strong anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, salicylic acid is used in the treatment of oily, acneic and/or blemished skin.
Pumpkin enzymes: Pumpkin fruit is rich in vitamin A, beta-carotene and vitamin C. It shows antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Pumpkin fruit also contains proteases – proteolytic fruit enzymes which help to naturally exfoliate dead skin cells, promote skin renewal and brighten skin complexion.
Bromelain: An enzyme protease extracted from the stem of pineapple. Stimulates gentle biological exfoliation and promotes skin renewal.
Papain: An enzyme protease isolated from papaya latex. Stimulates gentle biological exfoliation and promotes skin renewal.
Yeast: A filtrate of the lysate (the solution consisting of the material released from cell lysis; cellular disruption) obtained by the fermentation of yeast (Saccharomyces). Rich in amino acids, essential minerals, beta-glucan and vitamins. Possesses anti-inflammatory, revitalising and protective properties. Increases cell respiration and metabolism, stimulates oxygen consumption and enhances skin repair.
Shiso (Perilla frutescens): Shiso, also known as Japanese mint, is a plant rich in polyphenols (particularly rosmarinic acid) and triterpenoids (particularly ursolic acid). We use an extract obtained from Shiso leaf which demonstrates excellent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-allergic properties. Shiso leaf has been used for years in Kampo medicine due to strong detox properties, and its ability to soothe sensitive skin and prevent skin reactivity.
Niacinamide: A biologically active form of Vitamin B3 (niacin), essential in cell metabolism and energy production. Niacinamide is a multifunction active ingredient providing multiple benefits for the skin: evens skin tone, reduces the appearance of hyperpigmented spots, reduces pore size and oiliness, improves skin texture, enhances skin barrier function, diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and acts as an energising agent. Due to anti-inflammatory properties, niacinamide is used in the treatment of rosacea and acne.
Almond esters: Derived from almond, these vegetable esters improve skin moisture, skin smoothness and elasticity, while supporting skin barrier repairing.
Mango (Mangifera indica): Mango fruit is rich in vitamin C and provitamin A (carotenoids) along with glucose, proteins and citric acid. It is loaded with polyphenol mangiferin, which shows excellent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity. Mango acts as mild exfoliating agent and helps promote skin renewal.
Banana (Musa sapientum): Rich in vitamins A (carotene) and alpha-hydroxy acids, banana stimulates gentle exfoliation, promotes skin renewal and enhances production of collagen.
Glycerin: A vegetable-derived molecule naturally present in the skin. Acts an excellent humectant, a substance that attracts moisture from the environment and increases the amount of water in the surface layers of the skin.
Leuconostoc/Radish Root: probiotic derived from the radish root fermented with the lactic acid bacteria, Leuconostoc kimchii. Demonstrates excellent anti-microbial and preserving properties. In addition, it provides moisturising and skin-conditioning benefits.
